Shawn Jackman (Jack) CWNE#54 is a personal friend and has been a mentor to me for many years.  I've had the pleasure and opportunity to work with Jack for 4 years. Jack is a great teacher who takes complex 802.11 standards and breaks them down so almost anyone can understand the concept at hand. I'm excited for you brother. Great job and job well done! Put another notch in the belt!

Wireless Notification to Alaris Server and Cisco Systems Customers

This notice is from May 11, 2010.

A little aged, yes. But if you're upgrading your wireless network and you have older Carefusion (Alaris) pumps take note of this notification, as it could impact you. Ask your Biomed group what code rev your pumps are on. Code revs prior to 9.5 may not be supported. You should contact your Carefusion rep for a firmware upgrade.

We have a new batch of 1140 APs that had this issue with the Alaris pumps becuase of the new MAC addresses. We deployed old 1231s in pump staging areas until carefusion was able to come out and upgrade all the pumps. It took them about two months to upgrade all the pumps. What a PITA! Good job sharing the information.

Hi Mike,

Yea, we are in the same boat actually and doing exactly as you described as well, :)

Wow, we got bit on this last night when they were doing the update to the pumps. Yours was the only reference to this issue that I could find. Carefusion after-hours support was not helpful. Thankfully we still have a small cluster of 1231's that haven't been upgraded yet, we were able to drag them through there to update. Thanks for the lifeline, I owe you a beverage of your choice one day.

A co-worker just came across this article while we were troubleshooting a "strange" Alaris issue. We can confirm that this is not only a problem with Cisco, as the customer is migrating from Nortel (Trapeze) and the pumps don't connect to those either. The customer didn't realize that they had this issue already! Thanks again for the info.
